Visionaries

The Visionaries portal was created to offer accessible online support for those with vision loss. This resource collated real stories of not only people with sight loss but also their family and friends in one place to share their experiences and also provide support for those who are undergoing a similar journey.

A friendly brand was created far removed from that of the corporate voice we so often hear in such initiatives. This reflects that Visionaries is created for the Visionaries community by the Visionaries community. Being conscious of the audience, high-contrast colours were selected to allow for full accessibility throughout the site. Not only was a default state set for the hub, but an accessibility toggle found on the home page allowed the user to choose a colour setting most suited to their vision needs.

The hub has also been translated into 7 different languages, thus furthering its accessibility.

Conscious of the uniqueness of the Visionaries community, various stages of user testing have been carried out through all stages of development, while also constantly requesting feedback from the Visionaries community. This also includes an audit of the website during each update of the hub, making sure the responsive design is accessible on all devices.
